Cu Chi Tunnels

How to organize a trip? How to get there? Prices and program?

FAQs

1) I want to visit the Chi Chi Tunnels however I am overweight, heart-complications or claustrophobia  would this be an issue when going through the tunnels?
They have "westernized" one section of the tunnels that makes it easier to experience for someone who's stature is a little more than an average Vietnamese person. They also do have some exits along the way... However, only a small portion of the visitors to the tunnels actually enter into them, as they still are relatively small spaces. There is plenty to see and experience at the tunnels without having to physically enter into one of them

Most of the tour is above ground. The only steps are if you wish to go into the tunnels, the shortest is only about 50m long plus there are exhibits of the kitchen/hospital/working women but only about 4 steps in & out of each but you can peer inside from ground level.
It is still well worth a visit even if you avoid all the steps.

2) Can we pay for the ammunition with a credit card or do we need to have cash? Just trying to prepare. Thank you.
Answer: Yes, you can pay through cash or credit cards.
Shooting Range at Ben Dinh section is more expensive ( Please see the picture to have an idea how much?) and you CAN’T buy one bullet but the whole set of 10 Bullets. And You stop at shooting range at the half way of your walking tour.

Shooting Range at Ben Duoc Tunnels: Little Cheaper ( Please see the picture) and you only shoot when you finish your walking tour. When you purchase the bullets ( 10 bullets requires) then they will offer you 10 minutes free tuk tuk  services to the range and back.
Notice: Children under 16 years old are NOT allowed to enter the Shooting range.

3) Can you do the Mekong Delta and tunnels the same day? Is it advisable to do so?
Answer: Yes you could at a push but you would rush around the Cu Chi tunnels and be travelling out of the day I would recommend doing it over two days to get the best benefit. Long drive in opposite direction, So we do not recommend this combination for full day.

4) What do people wear to visit the cu chi tunnels?
Shorts and a t-shirt, Also had trainers on. It's not particularly muddy (unless it rains) Whilst it's in the forest on tracks, they are well worn and easy to walk through. More dusty than anything. Mostly casual clothes, with comfy shoes for walking on sometimes uneven tracks. Take a small folding umbrella in case it rains. ( wet season from May to late Oct).

5) Is it possible to shoot the guns free-handed? I saw on pictures, that all rifles are mounted on walls.
Answer: It is very unfortunate that you cannot shoot the guns free-handed due to safety precaution. There are plenty of different kind of guns at the Shooting Range and some you will find it hard to find it outside

6) Is the place accessible for disabled using wheelchair?
The trails are wide enough but there maybe tree roots to contend with. If you're fit enough or the person pushing is fit, probably no real issues.
There's an underpass to go through, but the gradient is mild.

7) I have two young kids, and I am considering taking them on the tunnel tour however I would like to know if there is anything on the tour that may scare or upset them?
We don't think there is anything "scary" about the tunnels, however,  We don't think many 7 year olds would find it very interesting. If there are prone to being frightened easily, steer clear of the booby trap exhibit. Anybody who lived through this era, like we did, will find it fascinating and most interesting: children may find it a bit boring. Having said that, I would certainly go and see them, they are incredible and well worth seeing.
don't know to what extent it would be scary for your kids, I think the closest thing may be the traps, where the guide shows how each trap works... The tunnels are okey, and you go inside only if you want to

8) Is this attraction open over the TET period? (Lunar new year or public holidays)
Everyday and you can contact
Opening Hours: 08:00 – 17:00
Location: Ấp Phú Hiệp, Phú Hiệp, Phú Mỹ Hưng, Củ Chi
Tel: +84 8 3794 8830

9) Is there an area or lockers where we can stow our backpacks while We tour the tunnels?
Nope – Not at all but you and most people just carried their backpacks with us/them. If you follow a tour group, you can leave your bag on the bus. I carried my backpack with me, even when crawling through the tunnel.

10) Can we use for speed boat ride to tunnels and how much was it please
If money is not an issue and this tour isn't a bad option.  Cost wise are around US$90 per person for joining group tour.  All Speed boats only bring you to Ben Dinh tourist tunnels – NOT Ben Duoc further section. 2 Companies offer this boat trip with Saigon River express and Saigon River Tour.
Benefit: Fast ride to avoid busy traffic in Saigon and have chance to view Saigon river.
Downside: It is also very slow some time depending local weather and so many water hyacinth plants sticking in Saigon River. Can’t listen much the local guide talking on board as It is very windy and noisy.

11) Is there rest room facilities?
Yes at the beginning of the tour by the car parking and in the middle where the shooting range is.
